POE has over 30 years experience in the design of
visible and infrared optical components and systems for military
applications. Applications have included optics for both cooled and
uncooled sensors, as well as optics for lasers, seekers and missile
systems. Capabilities include initial concept and feasibility studies and
all aspects necessary for the generation of design specifications.
Optical design
POE has a very experienced and skilled team of
optical design engineers who are able to undertake a wide range of optical
studies through to producing detailed optical designs for military
systems. Extensive use is made of a large suite of optical system design
and performance modelling software, including the internationally renowned
CODE V as well as in-house and Zemax packages. POE can design components
such as lenses and mirrors utilising, spherical, aspheric and diffractive
surfaces.
Opto-mechanical design
POE also has an experienced team of opto-mechanical
design engineers who are fully conversant with all aspects of the most
up-to-date CAD/CAM techniques. This ensures all our optical components and
systems are housed in mechanically suitable housings able to withstand the
harshest environments such optical systems are likely to encounter in
military operations.
